Millions and millions of slow and stupid pack animals trample the ground they live on. 

They eat everything. They shit everywhere. They dominate and destroy the landscape they inhabit. 

They are not leaders. They are followers. 

They are slow, cumbersome, stubborn, stupid. 

Work animals to be ridden in a time long past. Food for a profit-driven machine. Smelly, dirty, loud. 

And ripe for take-downs by more nimble, more hungry, more independent predators. 

Just like the two parties that dysfunctionally dominate our political system.

Republicans and Democrats. Elephants and donkeys. 

Lumbering, slow, destructive, followers. 

Most Americans are not followers. Most Americans are not herd animals. Most Americans are not Democrats or Republicans. Or don’t want to be anymore. 

If that sounds like you, you are not a lumbering elephant. Or a stupid jackass. 

You are not a herd animal. 

You are a wolf. 

You chart your own path. You walk alone at times, with others when you choose to. You’ve taken the road less traveled. 

Like the less than 6% of the population that has chosen to serve in the United States military. 

You are a veteran. 

You are toughened by the path you have. taken. Steeled by your difficult experiences. 

You are lean, you are focused, you are driven, you are noble, you are hungry. 

You are an American gray wolf. 

And after a long dormant period, full of threats, isolation and near extinction, you have reemerged as a rising force on the new landscape of the future. 

Most Americans are not herd animals. 49% (and growing) are independent. And that number, like the number of American gray wolves, is rising. 

And you are hungry. Hungry for change. Hungry to find others like you. Hungry to lead. 

And just like an American gray wolf, you are ready to leave the herds, declare your independence, join the pack, take down the herd animals, and eat.

For generations, the Republican and Democratic parties have been defined by their mascots. And they’ve never been more fitting. 

The future is not a time for elephants and donkeys. 

The future is a time for the wolf. 

The future is independent. 

And so are you. 

You are not a lumbering elephant. Or a stupid donkey.

You are a wolf. Which is MUCH cooler.
