Why is he running?

I’m running for city council because, as a lifelong resident, former military officer, and pilot, I’ve witnessed the value of leadership, accountability, and dedication to service. Our city deserves leaders who embody these principles. My military experience taught me how to navigate complex challenges and make critical decisions under pressure. I want to bring that same focus and determination to our local government, ensuring our city is prepared not only for today’s challenges but also for those we’ll face in the future.

Why are you an independent?

I am an Independent because I believe in prioritizing the people over partisan politics. During my military career, my decisions were always mission-driven, focused on the welfare of my team rather than party lines. As an Independent, I am committed to bringing that same mindset to city governance—focused on practical, common-sense solutions rather than rigid party ideology. My loyalty is to the community and its best interests, not to any political faction.

What are your top three priority issues? 

My Governing Style: Sensibility – Accountability – Transparency Top Issues: 1. Public Safety: Reduce Crime, E-Bike and Bike Lane Safety, Effective Solutions for Homelessness 2. Infrastructure: Streets, Storm Drainage, Rail Crossings, Fire Stations, Beach Access 3. Overdevelopment: Maintain Local Control and Community Character, Expand and Protect parks and Open Space

What are your positions that help support empowering independents (open primaries etc)? 

To empower Independents, I strongly support the adoption of open primaries, allowing voters to choose candidates based on merit rather than party affiliation. I also advocate for ranked-choice voting, which encourages a broader spectrum of candidates and ideas, fostering a more inclusive and representative political process. These reforms would make our elections more democratic and ensure that every voice is heard, regardless of party affiliation.

What will you do to support your fellow veterans and members of the military community? 

Supporting veterans and the military community is a top priority for me. I will work to ensure our city provides robust resources for veterans, including access to mental health services, job placement programs, and housing assistance. I also believe in fostering a strong connection between the city and local military installations and support organizations such as the American Legion (of which I am a member, Post 416), Veterans of Foreign Wars, and others to ensure the needs of service members and their families are met. Additionally, I will advocate for initiatives that recognize and honor the sacrifices of our veterans, ensuring they receive the support they deserve.
